I think the problem here is that the guys in video #1 didn’t have any sparring in their training regimes. They don’t seem weak, just unprepared for this kind of fight.

Pretty interesting article on how the Yang family traditionally trained to use Tai Chi as a martial art — http://neigong.net/2008/10/29/an-interview-with-yang-fukui/ — the upshot is that they didn’t practice the form, just individual movements and short combos, two-man drills with hard contact, and specialized weight training.
